South Shore Hospital is now part of the exclusive “five percent club” — only five percent of all hospitals nationwide have achieved Magnet recognition. South Shore Hospital is only the seventh Massachusetts hospital to receive Magnet recognition, and is currently the only Magnet hospital in Southeastern Massachusetts.

Some of our accomplishments include: first and only community hospital in MA with Level III Maternal/Newborn license. First and only licensed trauma center in Southeastern Massachusetts and one of only three hospitals in Massachusetts with a Level II license. One of the busiest Emergency Centers in Eastern Massachusetts, with over 77,000 patient visits each year. Designation by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health as a primary stroke service. The only hospital in the region to provide 24-hour access to primary angioplasty. Maximum accreditation from the American Society of Chest Pain Centers, in recognition of our advanced cardiovascular care.
