Under general supervision of a pharmacist, the Registered Pharmacy Technician performs pharmacy-related functions in compliance with Department: policies and procedures that provide optimal pharmaceutical care. A Registered Pharmacy Technician must be registered through the Board of Pharmacy and remain in good standings. Responsibilities:
Prepares and pre-packages unit dosage medication, following established protocols and guidelines.
stamps orders, performs medication order entry, and makes sure medication orders are verified by the pharmacist in a timely fashion to ensure that medications are obtained by the nurse in the automated dispensing machine.
Triages the central area, answer the telephones in a polite manner, and receives in medication deliveries.
Responsible for picking, delivering, and refilling medications for the automated dispensing machine.
Enters medication orders, and delivers bulk medication and IV solution.Requirements: Must be a high school graduate or equivalent, or currently enrolled in a program which awards such degree or certificate. Additionally, a Registered Pharmacy Technician must have successfully completed a Board-approved pharmacy technician-training program.
Must have a minimum of 6-12 months retail or hospital experience.
Must be registered in the state of Massachusetts.
