The Clinical Coordinator for Clinical Peer Review and OPPE is primarily responsible for, but not limited to coordinating and overseeing clinical peer review by performing quality variance analysis and validation, management of data related to quality variance reporting for physicians and licensed independent practitioners (LIPs), clinical volume metrics, quality indicators used for the re-appointment of medical staff. The position may also coordinate the QVR review process (non physician variances) as determined by the needs of the department. This is a key role in the credentialing process for MDs and LIPs. The coordinator is responsible for data management of aggregate, individual provide, and medical staff department level data. Insuring data accuracy, reliability, and timeliness are critical components and key functions of this position. Critical thinking and problem solving must be incorporated as the OPPE data collection and report process evolves. Data (reviewed variance reports) are provided to the medical staff department chiefs following review. Feedback is required from them. The coordinator will track and document feedback of information. The coordinator is responsible for the integrity of data, seeking out assistance and creating solutions for reporting challenges and feedback documentation in collaboration with the OPPE team which may include but is not limited to: the OPPE data Coordinator, medical staff office personnel, other analysts, clinical staff, IT programmers, and medical staff members when indicated. The OPPE coordinator assures accurate and timely review, data entry into follow up screens in the PI follow up section, accurate severity rating and follow up related to external reporting completion on the PI screen. The coordinator reviews QA reports for accuracy of the key fields insuring the variance is assigned to the correct provider and the appropriate Chief if additional review is indicated. The coordinator is responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of highly sensitive peer review information. The coordinator is responsible to support details for a monthly dashboard with the source being the QA variance reporting system.
The coordinator serves as the primary resource for the Board of Registration in Medicine regulations and interpretation. The coordinator regularly reviews websites and publications for changes in standards and regulations and performs an annual review of compliance, develops and implements an action plan to achieve and maintain compliance, providing updates to the Accreditation Manager/Director.
Facility: Cross-Campus,· Registered Nurse with Bachelor’s Degree in nursing is required; Master’s Degree in Nursing or a health related field is preferred. · Minimum of five years of relevant experience in a health care with increasing responsibility. Recommended areas of experience include but are not be limited to: provision of direct care in the OR, medical surgical or perinatal inpatient setting; record reviewer/case manager in the health insurance industry; clinical research; or case management. · Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) preferred. · Proficient in Windows-based operating software and systems that include MS Word, MS Excel, MS Access and MS PowerPoint. · Knowledge of clinical quality, patient safety, satisfaction performance measures and experience in project development, project management with strong analytical skills, including data entry, data manipulation, data management, and data analysis required. · Excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills required. Must promote and demonstrate a logical, systematic and non -judgmental approach to case review and be able to formulate concise and relevant summaries with competing factors.· Experience in project development, project management and strong analytical skills, including data entry, manipulation, management, and data analysis required. · Excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills required.· Knowledge of patient quality, safety and satisfaction performance measures and indicators, data definitions and sources and relevant national databases and benchmarks; knowledge of healthcare quality, safety and satisfaction data design, collection, aggregation and summarization; and expert knowledge of performance improvement models, methods and systems required.· Ability to work under minimal supervision, ability to adapt quickly to changes within the work environment required.· Must be a team player and have proven success applying a collaborative and professional approach and ability to work in conjunction with physicians, nurse managers/directors; PI colleagues and customers in a supportive way to communicate sensitive information and troubleshoot issues. Is solution driven. Is able to address difficult situations with tact and diplomacy. Certification/License: Registered Nurse in Massachusetts- requiredCertified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) preferred.
