In this position the Charge Nurse functions as a Resource Nurse who manages all aspects of the nursing process and the delivery of patient and family centered care, facilitates changes with the assistance of the nurse manager that result in improved outcomes for patient care and/or improved systems for providing care. The Resource Nurse has the responsibility and authority to request and use governing and administrative resources, technological and support systems, and multidisciplinary clinical experts necessary to provide quality, cost effective patient care. Proficient as a Staff Nurse, functions as an expert with a specific clinical focus, encompassing all aspects of patient/family care; including the availability and appropriateness of equipment, standards, and competencies. Assumes primary/charge nurse responsibility for patient caseload and, as appropriate, works with staff on clinical issues and problems.
Requirements: A minimum of two years experience in an acute locked psychiatric unit as a psychiatric Nurse. Med surg experience also required.
Bachelors Degree preferred.
Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Also requires BLS certification.
Preferred:The ideal candidate has been educated in the developmental needs of adolescent through geriatric patients. CPI-De-escalation/restraint training preferred.
