Job Description

Responsible for the implementation and administration of positive and effective system-wide labor relations program which promotes the long and short-term labor relations strategies under general direction. Administers and interprets the hospitals collective bargaining agreements, monitors the disciplinary process, oversees grievance and/or arbitration procedures. Represents management in labor relations, including the negotiation, interpretation, and administration of collective bargaining agreements. Maintains records and monitors compliance with all relevant laws and regulations.

Qualifications: A Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree and 10 years of direct experience in labor relations strongly preferred. Demonstrated experience as a spokesperson in contract negotiations required. In depth knowledge and expertise in the following subject areas: benefits, compensation, and staffing. History of hearing grievances at the last step, preparing for arbitrations, and working knowledge of the National Labor Relations Act and National Labor Relations Board procedures required. Must have the ability to work independently and have the ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships with all levels of management and staff.
Familiarity with the Massachusetts Nurses Association, United Food and Commercial Workers Union and SEIU contracts preferred. Three to five years of employment in either employee benefits and/or compensation preferred.
