Job Description
The Nursing Supervisor is responsible for promoting and maintaining quality patient care through effective management of the activities of all hospital services during his/her assigned shift. Particular emphasis is placed on the coordination of nursing services. This coordination includes: assessing staffing levels in all areas throughout the shift and making adjustments as needed to maintain patient safety; acting as a resource to all Nursing services which may require either directing/teaching others or providing direct nursing care; and assisting with orientation or training of staff. In the absence of the Hospital Administrator and/or designee, the Administrative Supervisor has the authority and responsibility administrative decision making in emergency situations and for notification of the Administrator on call as outlined in Hospital policy.
Qualifications: Demonstrated prior leadership experience such as Charge Nurse, Nursing Management, or Nursing Supervision. Knowledge of nursing process for the delivery and management of patient care and understanding of the need to individualize patient care considering patients age, culture, and psychosocial needs. Appropriate judgment skills on notification of Hospital Administrator on call. Ability to read, speak, and write in English. Ability to talk and hear for discussion with patients and co-workers, to stand and walk for several hours and to lift patients with assistance.
Required: Current license to practice as a registered nurse in Massachusetts. Three years of acute care nursing experience.
Preferred; B.S. in Nursing or related field preferred.
