Job Description
Supports the Health Information Exchange (HIE) and the Electronic Health Record (EMR) products and provides education and assistance to physician practices to assist them in maximizing the clinical use of the EMR/HIE systems. Updates HIE and/or EMR dictionaries, compendiums and/or standard vocabularies to optimize interfaces with hospital service lines such as radiology and laboratory. Develops and implements training programs, including hands-on training at the practices on how to capitalize on the EMR functionality including but not limited to searches, reviewing patient data and running reports. Identifies gaps in user understanding and use of vendors products and recommends educational strategies to help mitigate these gaps. Answers physicians' and other users' questions about EMR and HIE products, within allowed scope of practice based on state and federal regulations, directing physicians when appropriate to the EMR vendor. Performs intermediate to advanced systems analyses and troubleshooting to resolve end-user/client issues. Escalates issues to other IS/EMR team members or vendors, as allowed under existing federal and state regulations. Bachelors degree required. Computer Science or other related degree preferred. Three (3) years experience in implementing and supporting healthcare technology required. Experience with HL7 and X12 data standards preferred.
