Job Responsibilities
- Responsible for executing target discovery screens (shRNA and/or cDNA) to identify novel oncology targets
- Responsible for validating novel oncology targets
- Responsible for delivering plasmids to support projects across organization
- Responsible for pre-specified deliverables to external industry partners within specified timelines
- Mentor and manage a small group of scientists to deliver innovative results
We seek a highly motivated and collaborative cancer biologist to join our Target Discovery group. This individual will be identify and validate the next generation of cancer targets. This individual will also lead a core molecular biology group and be responsible for supporting the molecular biology needs of the organization.
The Belfer Institute is dedicated to the discovery of cancer genes essential for tumor maintenance, and translating basic discoveries into new effective therapies for cancer. Job Qualifications:
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
- A Ph.D. in cell or cancer biology with 5-9 years research experience post Ph.D.
- Industry experience is preferred
- A strong understanding of oncology biology, signal transduction, and oncogenomics
- Experience using RNAi for target discovery and/or validation is essential.
- Strong management and organizational skills
- Highly skilled molecular biologist capable of designing complex cloning projects.
- Independent, self motivated and innovative.
- An outstanding record of publication.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Outstanding interpersonal and team skills.
Ability to excel in a goal-oriented, multifaceted and fast-moving team environment.
Schedule:
This is a full time, 40 hour per week position.
