This position provides all levels of administrative support for junior/senior faculty members, their laboratories, and the Business Office in the Department of Cancer Biology. Duties include, but are not limited to, coordinating meetings and seminars, managing calendars, drafting and sending correspondences, formatting CVs and processing Harvard appointments, assisting with updating Biosketches, maintaining lab rosters and training tables, making travel arrangements, processing monthly p-card statements and employee expense reports and reimbursements, preparing PowerPoint slides, ordering and maintaining office equipment and supplies, and assisting faculty with recruitment and orientation of new lab staff. This person will be a member of the Cancer Biology Business Office and therefore will also participate in Business Office projects, assist with large grant applications, provide training for new administrative staff and coverage for other administrative positions during absences, and assist with major projects such as Friday Seminars and Department Retreats. The successful candidate will enjoy working in a fast-paced, diverse, multicultural environment and will be flexible and willing to pitch in to assist anyone in the Department.
Computer programs utilized: Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Meetingmaker, File Maker Pro, on-line Purchasing program, internet, etc.
Required skills: A self-motivated person who is proactive and able to work without close supervision. Must be able to work in a team environment with many different personalities. Must have solid computer skills and excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, and be willing to take on tasks as directed.
Bachelors degree or equivalent required.
Standard work hours: M-F, 8:30am-5:00pm, occasional evening and/or weekend hours may be required depending on deadlines.
