An opening is available for a PhD-level scientist with at least 3-5 years experience post-doctorate in any area of biomedical research who is interested in transitioning to administration. This is a business office position in the Department of Cancer Biology, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, a teaching affiliate of Harvard Medical School, Boston, MA. This position will bring scientific knowledge and familiarity with academic research laboratories to the department administrative team. The Business Manager will assist the department co-chairs with faculty affairs and will write and edit grants, scientific reports and correspondence. The Business Manager will also assist faculty in research program management and donor/foundation relations. Additionally the Business Manager will participate in all other aspects of department administration, including pre- and post-award sponsored research management and compliance and serve as back-up for the Department Administrator.
PhD in Molecular Biology, Genetics, Neuroscience or other related scientific field; 3-5 years of post-doctoral experience required.
Excellent written and oral communication skills are required, as is attention to detail and the ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
M-F - 9-5:30; variable hours - nights and weekends may be needed to meet deadlines
