Position shares responsibility for registering all new patients, updating demographics/insurance data on-line, pre-registering patients, performing referral management and financial screening functions. Interacts with a multidisciplinary group of physicians, nurses, clinical and support staff. Familiarity with third party payer rules is required. Must keep current on federal and state regulations pertaining to the Admitting/Registration process. Process expiration paperwork according to Mass. State Law. Performs QA/QC responsibilities according to departmental standards. Provides support for reception area and ADT/REG computer users. Reports and documents all customer service related issues to appropriate management staff (e.g., access manager, patient representatives, patient accounting manager). Works collaboratively with department manager and staff to optimize performance levels of access management staff and functions.
Prior health care and/or customer service experience required.
B.A. or B.S. Preferred.
Individual must be computer literate..
Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
Ability to interact with clinical staff, patients and families, as well as fiscal areas.
Knowledge of third party billing and pre-certification requirements.
Ability to work independently as well as within a group/team setting.
Ability to establish priorities and coordinate daily activity.
Dependable, detail-oriented, broadening knowledge of medical terminology and PC skills.
