The Polyak Laboratory is looking for a Senior Research Technician with experience working in a scientific research setting. Dr. Polyaks lab focuses on identifying differences between normal and cancerous breast tissue using various technologies, determining their consequences and utilizing them to improve the clinical management of breast cancer patients. Expectation is that this position will be able to work with minimal supervision setting up and executing experiments as directed. This position will work with the principal investigator, and research fellows in the lab, and over time may assist in the training and orienting of new staff.
Job Summary
Basic
Prepares basic solutions and performs procedures as assigned;
Will perform basic and increasingly more complex laboratory procedures as directed by principal investigator
Expectation to keep current with appropriate literature and research publications for intellectual and interactive commitment
Will participate in the requisitioning/purchasing process;
Maintains lab notebook;
Will perform lab maintenance duties as required;
May include animal handling procedures;
May deal with vendors.
Excellent reading, writing, and speaking skills
Senior Level
Anticipated to provide increasingly more sophisticated reporting and/or analysis of results over time;
May be asked to schedule procedure and experiments as a whole;
May design and execute experiments at the discretion of the principal investigator.
May be expected to participate in formal and informal presentations of results to staff.
May share authorship of publications.
Job Qualifications
Bachelors of Science required. 2+ years experience or Masters with no experience.
