We seek a Group Leader to develop and implement cutting-edge technologies for cancer genomics and coordinate scientific projects across multiple genomic platforms for the Center for Cancer Genome Discovery (CCGD) at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
The primary mission of the CCGD is to facilitate genome discoveries in human cancer samples through basic and translational cancer research using cutting-edge technologies. The CCGD has established platform groups to assist researchers in both genome-wide and gene-focused efforts such as Illumina next generation sequencing and Sequenom genotyping. We strive to be at the forefront of cancer characterization, developing and utilizing novel technologies and adapting existing technologies for the advancement of cancer research.
This exceptional opportunity offers the chance to work at the forefront of mutation discovery and translational cancer technologies and applications. The Group Leader will oversee activities within CCGD and manage technology development, laboratory workflow, operations and progress of scientific projects.
Evaluate, develop, optimize and implement DNA/RNA based genomic technologies for cancer analyses, including next generation sequencing.
Coordinate strategies with collaborators and work closely with faculty and staff across multiple laboratories/Centers (both internal and external)
Manage genomics projects, oversee and monitor ongoing work & project dashboards
Contribute to data analyses and compose scientific reports.
Communicate accomplishments and progress to collaborators and internal staff
Assist in finalizing projects, including reporting and billing.
Assist with lab operations including: overall ordering and organization, interacting with vendors, coordinating equipment maintenance, updating lab budgets.
Skills and Qualifications
PhD in molecular biology, genomics or related fields.
Strong scientific background, analytical acumen and attention to detail.
Strong project management and supervisory skills, with the demonstrated ability to develop and manage complex projects in a matrixed environment
Hands-on experience with cutting edge technologies (such as next-gen sequencing platforms) is highly desirable.
Ability to interact with multidisciplinary staff in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to work independently prioritizes and manages a variety of tasks, and shift priorities rapidly.
