The Department of Medical Oncology is seeking applicants for the position of Clinical Administrative Support Specialist to carry out administrative, business, operations coordination, planning facilitation, and support for improvement initiatives for the Department’s Inpatient service at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and the Physician Assistant Program.  Working with and supporting the policies and initiatives set by the CMO and the Clinical Director for Inpatient Services, this position works closely with physicians, physician assistants, other clinicians and administrative directors throughout the Department. Facilitates initiatives to improve the coordination of care for patients transitioning between DFCI and BWH. Provides primary administrative support and works closely with the inpatient oncology Physician Assistant service to promote and support continuous quality improvement and quality assurance.  Manages credentialing documentation and renewal processes for all DFBWCC Physician Assistants and supports Physician Assistant attending scheduling.  Provides clinical administrative support to the Clinical Director of Inpatient Services and the Director of Physician Assistant Services by supporting communication, meetings, presentations, and gathering of data and other information.  Provides general administrative support for oncology inpatient leadership, workgroups, and QI initiatives. Performs specialized reporting and analysis.  Key liaison and primary point of contact for all DFCI and BWH employees who need matters addressed relative to the oncology inpatient service. Serves as central point of contact and organizer for ambulatory scheduling at discharge, coordinating with weekend staff and other staff scheduling first post-discharge appointments.  Designs and drafts reference, communication and teaching materials relative to inpatient contact lists, guidelines, initiatives, changes, and updates.



Job Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree required.  Competitive applicants should have 2-4 years of administrative and business support experience in an academic medical center setting along with appropriate education and training.  Must be able to develop positive and active working relationships with Medical Oncology leadership and attending physicians and provide top-notch administrative problem solving skills to a wide variety of operational issues.  Analytic and quantitative ability along with strong spreadsheet and report preparation skills are considered critical to success in this position.

Monday - Friday. 8:30am-5:00pm.
