A minimum of five years and recent hospital acute care coding experience is required. Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), Registered Health Information Administrator or Registered Health Information Technician status is required. High School Diploma is required. Associates degree in Medical Records preferred. Experience with MEDITECH a strong plus. Codes inpatient hospital services, using International Classification of Disease- Clinical Modifications and Current Procedure Terminology (CPT) coding methodology in accordance with official coding and reimbursement guidelines. Abstracts all data elements into the Meditech hospital computer system for billing and statistical purposes. Maintains current working knowledge with all coding rules and regulations in accordance with the hospital coding compliance policy and procedures. Performs related clerical duties as needed.
