Under the direction of the section supervisor and manager, performs a wide variety of manual and automated laboratory procedures utilizing independent judgment and maintaining responsibility for assigned duties. Must be familiar with all phases of the laboratory to include chemistry, urinalysis, blood bank and hematology. Must be computer literate and have a basic understanding of computer interfaces. Must also be familiar with specimen processing protocols for both inpatient and outpatient procedures.
Completion of a baccalaureate degree in Medical Technology and training- either completion of an approved/accredited clinical laboratory of medical technology training program or on or before 2/28/92 qualified or could have qualified as a technologist under CFR 493.1433 laboratory regulations published March 14, 1990 (55 FR 9538). National certification by NCA, ASCP, or HEW.
MT(ASCP) or equivalent required (NCA or HEW).
Preferred: Bloodbank experience. Chemistry and Hematology experience.
