The Center for Cancer Systems Biology (CCSB) in the Department of Cancer Biology has an immediate opening for a Research Technician to join the CCSB Human Interactome Project. This is a one-year appointment that may be continued pending available funding.

The major duties are to work with Group Leaders and Research Scientists as part of a team effort to carry out high throughput screening, cloning and microbial transformations as part of a large-scale protein interaction mapping project for both humans and model organisms. Responsibilities will involve all steps of protein interaction mapping using yeast two hybrid systems, including preparation of media, perform primary screening assays, carry out validation assays employing various spectroscopy-based systems, maintaining strains and microbial stocks, along with other lab duties such as providing help to other ongoing projects in the lab and supplies ordering. The hours of this position will vary to meet deadlines in order to complete experiments and achieve project goals in a timely fashion.

This is a full time position only with variable hours.



Job Qualifications

BS degree, or equivalent, in biological sciences or biochemistry. Experience with with preparation of microbial media, agarose gel electrophoresis, PCR, bacterial and yeast transformation or high throughput yeast two-hybrid screening is critical. Hands-on experience with liquid handling systems or automated robotics (including robotics from vendors such as Tecan, Qiagen, Beckman, etc) is highly desirable.
