POSITION SUMMARY: The Nurse Assistant under the supervision of staff nurse and Clinical Manager performs/supervises services in a designated area according to the policies, procedures, philosophy, and objectives of the department and hospital. Works cooperatively within department and other services to create a system of quality health care.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES: Maintain current knowledge in area(s) of certain nursing and non-nursing procedures and to assist other nursing functions under the supervision and direction of a RN and/or LPN.
Assist patient with ADLs maintaining patient privacy and safety.
A. Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety.
B. Ensures call bell and phone always within reach
C. Maintains a clean and clutter free environment for the patient.
D. Prioritizes patient care according to nursing direction, rehab schedule and discharge plan.
E. Transports patient to procedures/discharge within hospital as directed.
F. Manages and operates equipment safely and correctly
G. . Prepares patients for meals, assists with meals or feeds patient as necessary.
H. Demonstrates ability to perform technical tasks, i.e. use of glucometer, hoyer lift, and collect specimens.
I. Takes and records vital signs.
J. Demonstrates knowledge of proper body mechanics.
K. Cleans and maintains equipment as directed
L. Prepares patient room for admission.
Communication is accurate and timely.
A. Reports any observed change in patients conditions or behavior promptly to RN/LPN.
B. Runs errands as assigned.
C. Responds to call lights in a timely manner.
D. Checks on supplies and orders them as necessary.
Functions as a Safety Sitter when needed.
A. Maintains continuous observation of a patient as a one on one sitter as directed.
B. Performs safety rounds constantly on specific patients are directed as a Zone Sitter.
C. Notifies nurse before he/she leaves so that observation of patient will be maintained
D. Reports immediately to nurse any behavior that will cause untoward effect to patient/staff.
32 hour 11pm-7am Mon-Fri & every other weekend
