Job Description

Under the supervision of the Director of Emergency Management incumbent shall be responsible for, but not limited to, a variety of specialized projects pertaining to hospital preparedness and safety initiatives with varying complexity. The student intern shall work directly under the guidance of Emergency Management staff to manage assigned tasks in a safe, time-efficient and well-organized manner, and liaise with hospital staff as necessary in efforts to ensure all resources available to them are used. The incumbent is expected to exercise professional demeanor and appearance as well as ability to communicate using refined interpersonal relations skills.

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
Provides necessary project management and support for all EP sub-committees and meetings
Assists Director of Emergency Management with emergency management updates and publishes them appropriately
Coordinates emergency management readiness training, including the execution of all Hospital-wide Emergency Preparedness exercises.
Participates with internal and external task forces, committees, and agencies regarding emergency preparedness and represents Tufts MC on local and State preparedness committees.
Investigates, researches, and makes recommendations regarding best practices with respect to emergency preparedness.
Work with the Director of Emergency Management to ensure that all Joint Commission and CMS guidelines for Emergency Management standards are known and being met.
Designs, coordinates, and implements EP plans and procedures for the Emergency Department, in collaboration with ED leadership.

Interest in hospital-basedemergency management
Experience in Project Management

Excellent organization skills and attention to detail
Ability to prioritize simultaneous projects and manage work to meet deadlines with minimal supervision
Strong leadership, interpersonal and consensus building skills
Problem solving/decision-makingexperience
Moderate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office suite; specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Works well in team environment
Strong Presentation Skills
Comfort with large crowds

Must be physically able to perform physical activities such as: walking, standing, climbing, lifting and carrying. Work may be performed indoor or at outdoor field site, sometimes in adverse weather, under austere conditions and environment.
