Reporting directly to an Associate Chief Nurse or Ambulatory Director the Wound/Ostomy/Continence Clinical Services Manager is responsible for administrative direction and oversight of inpatient and/or outpatient Wound/Ostomy/Continence Nursing.
Responsible for directing and coordinating the hiring, performance, competence, promoting and terminating of Wound/Ostomy/Continence Nurses and their support staff to insure optimal quality and effectiveness of staff.
Responsible for budgeting, salary and wage expenditures, volume/revenue production, space and equipment planning and management of Wound/Ostomy/Continence Nursing within the scope of service. Participates in selection of cost-effective supplies and equipment for patietns with wounds, ostomies and/or continence disorders.
Plans, develops, reviews and updates all clinical programs, research, policies, procedures and standards of practice consistent with the mission and standards of the Department, the Institution and national guidelines that anticipate and respond to the constantly changing environment of the Medical Center and the larger health care arena.
May have patient care responsibility. Is autonomously responsible for providing education, consultation and direct assistance to nursing staff on issues related to patients with altered skin integrity secondary to pressure necrosis, drainage or continence disorders. Evaluates patient progress toward expected outcomes, making changes in plan of care as indicated.
Offers outpatient services for ostomy patients as requested by BIDMC Physicians.
Has the authority to direct and support employees daily work activities. Has the direct responsibility to undertake the following employment actions: hiring, termination, corrective action and performance reviews. Direct Reports: More than 7 Indirect Reports: None
Has full responsibility for planning, monitoring and managing department budget.
Required Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Nursing required. Master's degree preferred.
License Registered Nurse required., and Certificate 1 Wound,Ostomy,Continence Care required., and Certificate 2 Basic Life Support required.
3-5 years related work experience required and 0-1 years supervisory/management experience required
Advanced skills with Microsoft applications which may include Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint or Access and other web-based applications. May produce complex documents, perform analysis and maintain databases.
