Assists with the planning and implementation of the Infection Control/ Hospital Epidemiology program by functioning as an epidemiologist (surveillance officer, data collector, and researcher), consultant and educator.
Assists with the day to day activities of the Infection Control/ Hospital Epidemiology Division. Utilizes epidemiologic tools to identify patients and personnel at risk of infection, clustering or outbreaks of infections, variation in the levels of nosocomial infections, or single cases of unusual infections.
Assists with the developing and monitoring of activities related to continuous quality assessment and improvement to include but not limited to: surveillance for nosocomial infections, reportable diseases, employee/occupational health and safety. Assists in designing collection, analyzing and presentation of data.
Serves as a system-wide Infection Control/ Hospital Epidemiology consultant, assisting with related inquiries from within and outside the hospital. Assists in the maintenance of ongoing formal and informal educational programs for all hospital employees.
Assists in the review and dissemination of new information on infection control to appropriate individuals or departments within the hospital. Acts as a departmental resource in the development, implementation, and interpretation of infection control policies and guidelines.
Participates in the multidisciplinary activities of the Environment of Care Committee. Provides input in planning meeting agendas, coordination, implementing, and evaluating programs, standards, policies, and procedures developed by the committee.
Required Qualifications:Bachelor's degree required in nursing, public health, microbiology. Master's degree preferred.
License preferred: Nursing License
3-5 years related work experience required in Infection control in a tertiary care environment..
Board certified in infection control, demonstrating evidence of knowledge of epidemiology, microbiology, infectious diseases, public health, and biostatistics.
Advanced skills with Microsoft applications which may include Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint or Access and other web-based applications. May produce complex documents, perform analysis and maintain databases.
Preferred Qualifications:A minimum three years experience in infection control in a tertiary care environment.

Physical Nature of the Job:
Light work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force frequently to move objects. Some elements of the job are sedentary, but the employee will be required to stand for periods of time or move through out the hospital campus
